MUSIC & FIRE SAFETY
with Jamie Gerow

Over the past few months all of our program members have been working hard, writing songs about fire safety. This project is a partnership with Mr. Jamie Gerow of the local children’s music group “The Grumpy Grandpas” and the Director of Fire Prevention & Investigation, Mr. Brian Berringer. The goal is to create 12 fire safety songs written by kids, for kids.

To date, our young songwriters have written 11 songs including ‘Where’s the Exit?’, ‘There’s Only One You’, ‘Stop, Drop & Roll’, and ‘Stay Low’,

We are very happy to be partnering with the Grumpy Grandpas and the Thunder Bay Firefighters on this special caring project.

Stay tuned as our CD progresses. Once the writing process is complete it will be time for recording!

March 2012 - update:

In collaboration with Jamie Gerow of The Grumpy Grampas, members from both our Kingsway & Vance Chapman sites have worked hard to complete 12 fire safety songs. On March 7th we had the pleasure of visiting the North Central fire hall for a photo shoot. The photos from this day will be used as part of the CD case design. We were all very excited and grateful to be included this project. It was awesome to visit the fire hall, meet the fire fighters and of course, see that HUGE tanker. Many thanks again to the Thunder Bay Fire Fighters who accommodated all of us!
